My Happy Place

I've been such a bad blogger lately. Lots to say, but I can't seem to get motivated to write them down. I'll try to get better quickly.

On Saturday, Allison and I celebrated our 6th year of marriage...which is really crazy to think about. That's longer than I was in college, and longer than I've been at Nestlé. Time has flown by, and I'm sure I'll be thinking the same thing on our 20th Anniversary. Allison got me a Super Soaker water gun! What a cool wife! We're vacationing here in a few weeks in Florida (hopefully sans hurricane) with my sister and her family. Her kids got water guns for the beach so Allison got me one so I could defend myself. I've already taken it outside and hosed down the dog a couple of times to get some practice. I'm stoked. I got her 2 statues that capture our current lifestage: a mother and young daughter holding hands, and another of a mother and a newborn baby. The first was to commemorate and celebrate the time we've had with Emma and the joy she has brought us. The second is to commemorate the coming of our second girl in October and the joys that she will bring to our family. Yeah...I'm pretty sweet and thoughtful. It's no water gun, but she seemed to like them, so I consider and it a successful gift.

We went to eat at Bordino's on Dickson Street. It's certainly in our top 10 favorite places to eat. Great atmostphere and excellent food. Allison got her staple spinach fettuccine and I savored a blackened New York Strip that was outstanding. We finished around 7:30 and didn't have plans outside of dinner. But since we had a baby sitter, we decided to drive around Fayetteville and look at houses (just for kicks). We drove up Mount Sequoyah as we haven't been up there for years. It wasn't dark enough for us to park at the overlook and make out, so we just looped around and hit the historic district houses. We stopped by Pam & Clark Nolen's house to see their completed front yard landscaping project. They were outside, so we stopped to talk for a while. Then onto the house to relieve the baby sitter. It was a great evening and tons of fun to hang out with Allison and reminisce about the great 6 years we've had.
