My Happy Place

Today is our last REAL day in NYC, and there's a ton left to do! At this point, my body hates me. I'm not, how do you say, in shape. At all. All the walking and standing is killing my legs!

Saturday morning in NYC Midtown was pretty quiet...most people were still sleeping from the hard partying the night before. We walked over to Rockefeller Plaza and saw Brian McKnight singing on The Today Show. It was really good, and pretty crowded.

Then we caught the NYC Siteseeing Tour to Uptown (Harlem, Central Park, Museum Mile, etc). We saw Grant's Tomb, Bill Clinton's office, the Apollo Theater, The American Museum of Natural History (went in for a while...cool dinosaur bones in there!), The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. The tour guide was incredibly passionate about the history of Uptown...to the point where he was yelling at us. I felt like I was being guided by the lead singer of Rage Against the Machine! But the info was great and very detailed...good stuff to know. We tipped him well when we got off at Central Park.

From Central Park, we walked back to FAO Schwartz to pick up a gift for Emma..a little pull-behind-you dog that wiggles as you pull it. We were stupid that morning and wore jeans into town...so we went shopping for some shorts. After about 5 stores, we finally found some reasonable prices, and changed in the stores...walked out to take on the city again.

We walked over to Times Square and caught the Downtown tour bus. We got off in SoHo and shopped around there a bit. Walked over to Little Italy and Chinatown afterwards. A huge thunderstorm came up and it started pouring on us. We bought 2 umbrellas from a street vendor ($3/each...very reasonable) and tried to decide where to eat. However, neither of us wanted Italian or Chinese...so we were in the worst spot for what we wanted. We dove into the closest subway station and tried to decide where to go eat dinner. We decided to just go back to Times Square and look for something there. After getting our Metro tickets and entering the subway area, we studied the maps and signs for about 10 minutes. And we still utterly confused by what train we needed to take. So we took an estimated guess and got on the Q. While on there, Allison asked if we were going in the right direction...and I had no clue. Thankfully, we got on the right train and ended up in the middle of Times Square.

We ate at a place called Manhattan Chili. I had 2 chili dogs with fries, and Allison had some burrito thingy and a margarita. We knew we had to get up early the next morning (4:30AM!), so we headed back to the hotel around 9:00 PM. We packed and got to bed around 11:00.
